"Climate activist Greta Thunberg has been awarded the first Gulbenkian Prize for Humanity, in the form of €1 million. Problem is, Gulbenkian was a massive oil industrialist who paved the way for Western states to exploit Iraqi oil."

No worries she's going to divert the oily exploitation prize money to green charities.  She's greenwashing the filthy lucre for  big business.

"Greenwashing is actually in a corporation's best interest," said Deandra Jefferson, office manager at a sustainability organization that she requested go unnamed, in an interview with Business News Daily. "Although the concept of corporate social responsibility exists, it is very rare that corporations actually live up to them, and when they do, it's a surface-level effort to make themselves look good."

Same as Greenpeace has done.  Same as WWF has done too!

"It seems, though, that Thunberg is going to be spending fossil-fuel money to advance her cause. The foundation and the Humanity Prize are named after Calouste Gulbenkian, a British-Armenian oil tycoon who died in 1955. One of the wealthiest people of his era, he was a major shareholder in Royal Dutch Shell, developed many oil companies of his own and is historically credited with being the first person to exploit oil in Iraq, which made the petroleum riches of the Middle East ripe for the taking by the West."
